Hi there! I’m Vance, a laid-back, easygoing guy looking for a calm and loving forever home. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who enjoys relaxing and soaking up the quiet moments, I could be the perfect match!
I thrive best in a peaceful home, and while I prefer an adult-only household, I’m okay with older children who understand my laid-back style. My ideal family enjoys a slower pace of life. You won’t catch me jogging or cycling, but I’m always up for leisurely walks or hanging out in the yard. In fact, I’m just as happy lounging around as I am exploring my surroundings. While I enjoy walks, I don’t need them every day—especially if I have a yard to stretch my legs and enjoy some fresh air.
I’m pretty self-sufficient and don’t mind spending time on my own, so whether you work from home or have a busy schedule outside the house, I’ll be just fine. I adapt well to changes in routine and can keep myself entertained with some good enrichment toys. I’ve already mastered the “sit” command, and I’m working on “down” and “stay.” I’m strong, though, so my future family will need to be comfortable handling my strength if I get excited, especially on walks.
What I really crave is companionship. I’m loyal to my person, and nothing makes me happier than curling up next to you or even sitting with you in a hammock! I also love having my jowls massaged—it’s my favorite thing. Don’t worry, I’m not a drooler and I’ll always greet you with a big smile and a wagging tail.
I have a bit of a prey drive, so a home without cats or small animals is best. I can be selective with my dog friends and prefer those who are calm and low-energy like me.
If you’re searching for a loyal, chill buddy who just wants to nap, snuggle, and enjoy life’s little pleasures, I’m your guy! Let’s create wonderful memories together.
If dogs could tell us their pre-rescue story, would we want to know all the details? Vance came to us after he was taken to a vet for what was believed to be a machete attack. Vance had one surgery prior to coming into hart’s care and another when in hart’s care. While he may have some permanent scarring, it is quite minimal versus the size of the original injury. The vet did a tremendous job! Now that Vance has healed up, he is ready for adoption. Vance is up to date on DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is neutered and microchipped.
Vance is a chill guy who is learning about city life. He is working on basic training, including leash walking and house training.
Due to Vance’s reactivity/selectivity, a home who is familiar with reactivity or is open to learning/training would be best
