Hi, I’m Yuki! I’m a big, sweet, and loving guy who wants to be close to my humans as much as possible—whether that means sitting on your lap (yes, I think I’m a lap dog) or snuggling up on the couch. I have a lot of energy, so I need daily walks and brain games to keep me happy.
I love the outdoors, and a yard is a must for me! I’ll happily chill outside for hours, and if you give me a digging spot, I’ll be in heaven. I’m also highly food-motivated—mealtime is the best! I need a slow feeder and some patience as I work on my manners around treats.
I get along well with other dogs, but I like to play rough, so a confident dog friend who can match my style would be great. I’m also good with cats—my current cat roommate doesn’t bother me at all. Birds, though? Magpies are for chasing!
I’m house-trained but not a fan of the crate. When my people leave, I settle in my own space with a frozen Kong. I’ve been good with visitors and even handled an art festival like a champ, but loud voices make me a little unsure.
I’m still learning my manners—sometimes I get too excited and jump up, so a home without small kids is best. I need a family who understands my puppy energy and will help me keep learning. In return, I promise endless love, snuggles, and fun!
Could I be your adventure buddy?

Yuki came to HART from Parkland County Animal Shelter as a stray. Yuki has had a long journey to recovery as he required TPLO surgery for a leg injury that occured prior to being rescued. According to our vet partner, he is completely healed and is cleared to participate in regular activity. Due to the nature of TPLO surgery, the potential adopter should be aware that he will have osteoarthritis that will need to be managed as he ages. Yuki is up to date on DACPP, Bordatella, Rabies and is neutered and microchipped.

Yuki is a loving, high-energy dog who struggles with separation anxiety and confinement. He does well in a gated room with the resident dog. Left alone, he may chew books, shoes, or furniture, likely due to anxiety and boredom.
On walks, he pulls hard at first but settles quickly. A front-clip harness and pre-walk training can help. He also needs positive reinforcement to build independence and reduce separation distress.
Yuki doesn’t like being physically moved while sleeping and has growled when disturbed. Using treats to guide him off furniture works well.
Managing his environment by removing tempting items, providing mental enrichment, and working on structured training will help Yuki thrive. With patience and consistency, he will make a wonderful companion!
